Description
The “Poveiro” pullover is a piece of traditional clothes of the local fisherman, recognized as one of the main identity marks of a people, from Póvoa de Varzim. The originality of this shirt gradually made it one of the most characteristic and emblematic pieces of Portuguese culture. Traditionally made in thick cold white wool that comes directly from Serra da Estrela, it is also traditionally decorated with cross stitch. It is a piece that dates back to the 19th century, although currently is also seen as a fashion item.
